About Wistman Photography
Gulls at dawn on the river, a man strolling by the lakeside in Sri Lanka, the face of Buddha subtly revealed in stone, a boat moored in Devon, a frozen river in the Lake District – these are just some of the images I captured whilst travelling all over the world.
Many were taken in Black & White, and have a romantic quality, whilst the more abstract images add another dimension, sometimes perceptually challenging to the eye. I also have a particular affinity for water and nature - where I find refuge from having lived in London for over 25 years (!) – and use these surroundings to indulge in more escapist images.
The “Travels” section is entirely B&W focusing on my first trip to Asia in Sri Lanka and a volunteering jaunt in Borneo for The Orangutan Foundation. There was much wider scope for beautiful imagery from my travels in Sri Lanka – whereas Borneo provided more of a journal and the place where I gained insight into the environmental challenges we face. The caged orangutans were homed in a rehabilitation centre, rescued from deforestation caused by illegal logging. These wonderful animals are intelligent, mischievous and have a soft spot for toothpaste!
Recent projects include being commissioned for a series of images for "Secret London - an Unusual Guide" just published and exhibiting at the forthcoming London Photo Show at the 5th Base Gallery, 1-4th December 2016.
